Former Bulldog Odim Signs with San Diego Chargers

Odim, owner of 17 school records, is the all-time leading rusher at UMD and was also the program’s first three-time All-American.

Chargers’ Spanos ‘couldn’t be happier’ about NFL…

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – San Diego Chargers President Dean Spanos said Monday he was glad to see the players’ lockout end, and that he expects the new agreement to bring the National Football League 10 years of labor peace. The executive board of the NFL Players Association and 32 team representatives unanimously approved a deal that owners agreed to last week, clearing the way for preseason training camps to open and concluding the four-and-a-half-month lockout. “I couldn’t be happier to put this behind us and get back to football,” Spanos said

Mankins, Jackson Want $10 Million Or Free Agency

By: SportsDirect New England Patriots offensive lineman Logan Mankins and San Diego Chargers wide receiver Vincent Jackson want either a payout of $10 million or unrestricted free agency as individual settlements of the antitrust lawsuit pending against NFL owners. Yahoo! Sports reported Tuesday that Mankins and Jackson, two of the 10 players listed in the lawsuit, are looking for some form of long-term earning power they believe they were denied under the previous labor agreement. Owners and players are said to be moving toward an agreement that could be completed as early as Thursday.

Chargers’ doctor awaits discipline ruling

SAN DIEGO, July 13 (UPI) — San Diego Chargers team doctor David Chao should be put on probation for five years for alcohol abuse and lying on state forms, a state board recommends. The state medical board, which held a weeklong hearing into allegations against Chao, also wants him evaluated by a psychiatrist and to receive ethics training, The San Diego Union-Tribune reported Tuesday. An administrative law judge will issue a proposed resolution to the case in the coming months and the board will then take it up for consideration, the newspaper said
